Songdo Daljip Festival
Songdo's first full moon of the lunar year is special!
The Songdo Daljip Festival, which inherits the unique traditions of our hometown and prays for the harmony, well-being, and health of the residents, is held every year on the first full moon of the lunar year at Songdo Beach, hosted by the Songdo Cultural Festival Committee.
The Songdo Daljip Festival, which has been held since 2000 to send away the bad luck of the old year and welcome good luck of the new year, begins with the Sansinje on Janggunsan Mountain in Amnam-dong, followed by a street play, an intangible cultural heritage performance to pray for good fortune, a Dalmajije, and a Daebuk performance as pre-event events.
The highlight of the festival, the Daljip Burning, begins at 6:30 p.m. The giant Daljip was built by the residents of Songdo over the course of about a fortnight, and the sight of the giant Daljip, which contains everyone's wishes, burning brightly toward the night sky is a spectacular sight.
